Our Team
James A.
Smith, MS, LMFT
James is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who earned his Masters
Degree from Kansas State University. While James works full time
as a therapist he also teaches College Psychology and Sociology at Trinity
Academy.
James has extensive experience in assisting families in their efforts
to become healthy. While working for organizations such as DCCCA Family
Preservation, Homes First Initiative, and Youthville, James worked directly
with families in their homes to assist with marital and parenting issues.
James also has experience conducting teambuilding workshops for businesses
large and small. Some of his past clients include Sprint, Hallmark, IBM
and MoDOT. His experience enables him to not only work with individuals,
couples and families but also with large groups.
In addition to therapy, James is also able to speak on a variety of
topics for retreats or workshops. He combines his faith, humor
and love for families to assist with bringing joy to broken relationships
and encouragement to strengthen and motivate change.
Frequently joining James in therapy sessions is his Certified Professional Therapy
Dog “Tilly”.

Angee Luinstra MS, LCMFT
Angee is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist and earned
her Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy through
Friend’s University.
Angee has worked extensively with marital and pre-marital couples addressing
such topics as communication, conflict resolution and sexual dysfunction/disagreements.
Angee has work experience in the areas of foster care/adoption treating
multiple family dynamic issues including parent-child conflict. In
addition to family and couple therapy, Angee has also worked with individuals,
adults and teens, to address a variety of conditions including depression
and anxiety.
Angee uses a strengths based perspective in working with clients, believing
every person has the potential to positively impact themselves and others
through use of the strengths they already have. Angee’s goal
as a Clinician is to help clients develop tools they can use to improve
their relationships and overall sense of well-being. Through her
faith, Angee sees hope for change in every individual, couple or family
who are willing to take the first step and reach out for help.
In addition to working as a therapist, Angee enjoys spending time with
her husband and beautiful one-year-old daughter.

Jennifer Bruening, MS, LCMFT
Jennifer is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist who earned her Masters Degree from Kansas State University. While Jennifer works part-time as a therapist she is a wife, mother of four children and a PRN Clinician at Youthville.
Jennifer has extensive experience working closely with multi-problem children and their families in order to improve parenting and child safety. Jennifer utilizes careful assessment with a strengths-based approach to assist families in solving problems.
Jennifer's passion is to encourage hope and change within the family system which includes treating large families; addressing lifecycle issues related to launching, empty nesting and aging issues; healing and reparation regarding marital and parent-child conflict. Jennifer relies on her faith to form and shape her approach to clients varying needs. It is her belief that grace and compassion are essential to provide a safe and healing environment for change.
Jennifer provides individual and group, clinical supervision to Marriage and Family Therapists whom are working toward clinical licensure through the BSRB.
Jennifer has completed CORE and Domestic Mediation training and is currently working
towards certification as a Christian Sex Therapist.
She volunteers at her parish and has past experience as a Young Life Leader.

Sjonna Ochsner, MS, LMFT 
Sjonna is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who earned her Master's of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University.
Sjonna worked for several years at the Wichita Children's Home with children from birth to twenty-one years of age as well as with the Street Outreach Program. She also was the Community Based Therapist for Sex Offenders at DCCCA and currently works with women and their children who are in recovery from addictions.
Sjonna has training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma related disorders, as well as sand-tray and therapeutic play for children, adolescents, and adults to process their grief and trauma. She spent a month training with the Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals with Dr. Patrick Carnes for those individuals, couples, and families suffering with Sex Addiction and is working on her Certification as a Sex Addiction Therapist. She has also spent time at The Meadows in Wickenburg, Arizona to gain insight on working with Love Addiction/Love Avoidance and working to restore the wounded child living as an adapted adult.
Her model of therapy for recovery incorporates a holistic and systemic (family) framework with the compass of the Twelve Step Model. "Along the journey toward restoration and healing, my hope as a therapist is to be another set of footprints in the sand to help clients walk away from the dual life of addictions toward intimacy (in to me I see) and peace."
