Ashley Poston,
Student Intern

Ashley is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy through Colorado Christian University. Before entering the counseling field, Ashley built extensive professional experience working with farm and ranch families in the financial field. Through this work, she gained a unique appreciation for the complexities that can arise when family, work, finances, identity, and legacy are deeply intertwined. Her experience with agricultural families has also given her insight into the realities of rural life, including financial uncertainty, generational expectations, succession and transition, demanding workloads, and the pressure that can come with maintaining a family operation and way of life.
Ashley brings this systems-oriented perspective into the counseling room. She recognizes that people do not experience challenges in isolation and seeks to understand the relationships, family dynamics, life experiences, values, and environments that shape each client’s story. She approaches counseling with warmth, authenticity, and curiosity while helping clients identify both the challenges they face and the strengths they already possess. She is passionate about creating a welcoming, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and respected as they navigate life’s challenges.
Faith is an important part of Ashley’s life and has influenced both her decision to pursue counseling and the way she understands hope, relationships, healing, and personal growth. She values the opportunity to integrate Christian faith and biblical principles into the counseling process for clients who desire it, while also respecting each client’s individual beliefs, values, and worldview. Ashley believes counseling should provide a space where clients can explore the parts of their lives that are most meaningful to them, including spirituality and faith when those are important to their story.
Her developing clinical interests include working with individuals, couples, and families experiencing relationship challenges, life transitions, stress, anxiety, trauma, and difficulties with communication and connection. She has a particular interest in serving rural and agricultural individuals and families, as well as first responders, veterans, and their families. Ashley recognizes that careers rooted in service can bring unique experiences and pressures that extend beyond the individual, affecting relationships, family life, identity, and the transition between high-stress environments and everyday life. She is interested in helping clients navigate these challenges while strengthening connection, resilience, communication, and overall well-being.
Outside of the therapy room, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, traveling, and being outdoors whenever she gets the chance.
Ashley is completing her practicum under clinical supervision and looks forward to walking alongside clients as they develop greater insight, strengthen relationships, build practical skills, and work toward meaningful and lasting change.
