Melissa Meyer,
Student Intern

Melissa Meyer is a Marriage and Family Therapy intern who brings warmth, lived wisdom, and almost three decades of experience working with families and individuals to her clinical work. Her background spans roles as a Special Education Teacher, Healthcare CEO, and Alternative Dispute Resolution Provider — all of which deepened her understanding of how people grow, get stuck, and find their way forward.
People who know Melissa describe her as someone who makes you feel seen. She has a genuine gift for stepping into another person’s experience with curiosity and care — whether she’s working with a couple navigating conflict, a family in transition, or an individual searching for clarity. Melissa works with children ages 8 and older, couples, families and individuals. Grounded in her own faith, she brings a values-centered perspective to her work and is honored to walk alongside clients on their own personal journeys, wherever those may lead.
Melissa’s clinical training is complemented by deep roots in family support and Alternative Dispute Resolution. She has trained parents in the Love and Logic parenting philosophy since 1999 and co-developed “Kids First,” the co-parenting workshop offered through Sedgwick County family courts. She is Kansas Supreme Court certified in Core Mediation, Domestic Mediation, Parent-Adolescent Mediation, Domestic Conciliation, and Parenting Coordination, mentors new mediators, and serves on the Kansas Supreme Court ADR Advisory Board. She is also an active member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP).
Melissa holds a BA in Psychology, Sociology, and English from Webster University and an MA in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, along with post-graduate MBA coursework from the University of Sioux Falls.
Outside the therapy room, Melissa and her husband Markus are the proud parents of two children. She is an avid reader, a knitter, and a devoted collector of classic films. As a family, the Meyers love to sail and embrace every opportunity to unplug and be fully present with one another — a value that quietly informs everything she brings to her work with clients.
